Vicki is a diaconal minister with a Master of Theological Studies and began serving at Symons Valley United Church in North Calgary in 2011. Vicki enjoys running, cycling, reading, quilting, going to movies and walking with her dog.
Vicki was called into ministry when her youngest was three years old. After five years of ministry education & training through The Centre For Christian Studies in Winnipeg, MB, she was commissioned in 2012. Vicki loves to travel and learn about other cultures. She has been to many countries and experienced several learning opportunities while traveling. Vicki has also led several study/exposure tours for youth and young adults as part of her ministry. She is about to embark on walking the Camino Portuguese during her upcoming sabbatical.
Of particular interest to Vicki is the capacity and ability of citizens in different countries for self-determination in their movements – whether across international borders or across checkpoints within their own country. This interest recently led Vicki to volunteer for a three-month term with the World Council of Churches to provide ecumenical accompaniment and protective presence in the West Bank of the Occupied Territories of Palestine. She now facilitates learning opportunities for people to understand how the land and people of Palestine have been colonized and illegally occupied over many, many years.
